Tyler + McKenna | Downtown Raleigh Urban Rustic Wedding

Tyler has a handlebar mustache, McKenna has a platinum blonde mohawk. He wore a white tux, she stunned in a pink mermaid gown. Tyler and McKenna have so much style, and it’s obvious to see that these two were totally made for each other! Josh and I had so much fun photographing this wedding in Raleigh. The event was a little bit bohemian, a little bit rock and roll, and 100% awesome. Tyler and McKenna were married this July at the Raleigh Wine and Design building. This location was the perfect fit for these two creative souls and we loved the urban rustic style of the venue. The venue features a large open porch overlooking downtown Raleigh and is decorated in colorful painted canvases. Tyler and McKenna had both their ceremony and reception at Wine and Design. I don’t think a single eye was dry at their ceremony as they exchanged their beautiful heartfelt vows. Tyler’s dad officiated the wedding and gave his blessing to the joyful bride and groom.

After saying their I do’s, Tyler and McKenna, along with their wedding party, headed off to an awesome portrait location Josh and I had scouted out the day before. With the rusty steel, painted brick, and sturdy iron beams, this spot blended perfectly with the urban rustic theme of their downtown Raleigh wedding. Tyler and McKenna celebrated with their bridesmaids and groomsmen (which included their adorable dog Grimace) before leaving with us for some one on one portraits. McKenna wowed us in a perfectly fitted pink bejeweled dress. She actually bought it as her reception dress, but hand-sewed a gorgeous pink floral petticoat to wear under it during the ceremony. She also made her own bouquet to look like a dandelion using pearl pins and made all of the groomsmen’s bow-ties using a floral dress shirt matching Tyler’s. We are just so amazed with this girl’s talent!

After canoodling in the urban jungle for a while, we headed back to the reception with Tyler and McKenna for an evening of dancing and celebration. Their guests munched on delicious food truck burgers and mouthwatering fruit-topped layer cakes. Guests danced their hearts out under the glow of the hanging lanterns until it was time for Tyler and McKenna to make their grand exit.
