Washington State | Epic Methow Valley Sunset
This June I was lucky enough to spend a week out in Methow Valley. I came in and enjoyed some time in Winthrop, Washington for Kim and Kevin’s wedding at Sun Mountain Lodge. Sun Mountain Lodge is located atop a mountain. There are unobstructed views of the surrounding valley from all sides. Its such an exquisite venue.
Being that I was staying in town for a little bit, I decided not only to take the time and enjoy myself a bit, but also to make sure I did a thorough job of location scouting for my wedding there in Methow Valley. I enjoyed some of the hiking trails around Sun Mountain Lodge and went up every evening to watch the sunset. The sunsets in Methow Valley are so exquisite in the way the light changes. As the sun first starts to set, it turns the light in the valley into gold. Then, as the sun moves, it peeks behind the mountain across from Sun Mountain Lodge to create the most exquisite lighting.
One evening in particular, the sunset was especially unique. Storm clouds were rolling in – and there were some small rain clouds surrounding it. As the rain drizzles down into the Methow Valley, the clouds stretched down and lit up gold in the setting sun. Outside of the wedding, this was probably one of my favorite nights in Winthrop, Washington. I ran all around to catch the sunset in a few different spots. Here are a few of my favorites from that day and the days I spent location scouting for the wedding.
