Sarah + Roger | Grayson Highlands VA Engagement

For their engagement session, we took Sarah and Roger on a little adventure at our favorite hiking spot Grayson Highlands. Grayson Highlands is a state park in Virginia located not too far from Damascus. We love this park for all of its bald mountaintops, giant rocks, and of course, wild ponies! We met up with Sarah and Roger at Grayson in mid October and lucked out with peak fall colors. The yellows and reds were strikingly beautiful. The leaves covered the ground and the trees to create the most beautiful autumn scenery. We are so thankful that Sarah and Roger made the drive out there because it was so worth it!

After photographing on the trail, we headed farther up the mountain to the bald. The forecast called for rain and clouds covered the top of the mountain. As we got out of the car, Sarah and Roger couldn’t help but laugh at the sign posted at the park reading “Warning: Extreme weather change. Be prepared for Drastic Temperature Changes.” We experienced this firsthand as we had just come from the bottom of the mountain that was sunny and warm. Anyone can shoot on a perfectly clear day, but the weather made these photos even more romantic. It was a bit chilly and windy, but thankfully we brought a blanket to keep them warm. We hiked up to see the ponies and captured some lovely moments between these two love birds. These two are so sweet! We love their sense of adventure. They snuggled up atop the mountain and embraced the crazy weather. Soon, a cold rain started to fall and we hiked back down the mountain to warm up in our cars and blast the heat.
