What We Love: Newlywed Portraits
If there was only one piece of advice that Josh and I could give to our brides and grooms for their wedding day, it would be to make sure you make time for a short newlywed couples session. Typically these take about 20-30 minutes and are done around sunset at a location on or close to your wedding venue. These portrait sessions are a must for many reasons. Most importantly, this will be the first time that you and your sweetie get to be alone since you tied the knot. This gives you just a little bit of time to connect and share in your excitement before heading back to your guests. You are full of love and emotion and this can translate into beautiful romantic photographs. Typically, the photos from the couple’s session are the wedding photographs that the newlywed bride and groom end up printing and showcasing on their wall. When choosing what time to do the newlywed portraits, we recommend that you use the golden hour calculator featured on our website. Just plug in your wedding date and location to figure out the golden hour, and plan to start your session towards the beginning of the golden hour to allow for enough light through the whole session. If there is a treeline or if the day is dreary, you might want to start a little earlier.
Every one of our couples who has done a couple’s session on their wedding day has loved it. Please let us know if you would like any advice in scheduling time for your newlywed session on your wedding day. We are happy to help you get the best pictures you possibly can!
