Sunset in Point Reyes National Seashore | California
Ahhhhh California. How wonderful it was to see the sun and feel warmth in the air again. We forgot how much we missed it! I really lucked out with the campground we chose. Olema Campground is located about an hour outside of San Francisco, which is where we had originally anticipated spending all of our time. However, when we arrived to our spot, we realized we were literally within walking distance of Point Reyes National Seashore. We had never heard of this park, but its unspoiled beauty, rolling hills, and basking seals really intrigued us.
After doing a bit of work during the day, I decided to walk in to see what the park was all about. We walked in with Migo to the Visitors Center in the late afternoon and caught the most gorgeous hazy light. We did not have any kind of plan, so we hopped on the Ridge Trail right there near the entrance to the park. We could see that it went back into the rolling hills and meadows where the light was so golden and creamy. While hiking we saw a couple people riding horseback on another trail and we ran into more than a few deer grazing off the trail. We were so enamored with the gorgeous scenery we really didn’t make it very far, but decided to head back to our car once the sun set behind the hills. We figured we had enough time to drive in and watch the sun set from the beach.
I’m not really sure what beach we ended up at, but it was a beautiful drive down. We made it there just as the sun was about to hide behind the horizon. We’ve also learned that Migo really loves the beach. This is probably because he knows he gets to run around and play fetch. We forgot his ball, but luckily we found a good sized stick to throw around. Migo will happily chase anything really. That photo of him running on the beach totally cracks me up. He’s so excited, he’s basically flying through the air with no feet on the ground. Migo is a super chill dog, but as you can see, he comes alive for a good game of fetch. God I love that little guy!
Plenty more pics of this beautiful park to come! Thanks for reading! Shelley, California + North Carolina Wedding Photographer
