Hoh Rainforest Elopement Location Guide at the Hall of Mosses
Curious to see and learn more about The Hall of Mosses in the Hoh Rainforest? Go ahead and have a look through this article to scout out the location and see the gorgeous, magical scenery. How perfect would it be to say I do under one of these tall trees just dripping with green moss?
Professional Photographers Visiting the Hoh Rainforest
The Hoh Rainforest was one place I had on my “must visit” list. We knew that when we went, we wanted to spend the whole day exploring, so we tried to plan our visit according to the forecast. Well, seeing as the forecast for the entire week was 100% chance of rain, we just went. This time however- we were prepared for it.
I jerry-rigged some camera covers out of plastic bags and duct tape (they were actually very effective I must tell you! ) so we didn’t have to hold back photographically in the unrelenting rain. We’ve definitely photographed in the rain before, but this was just so constant that it tested our gear like nothing else we’ve seen. We were very thankful to have found a temporary solution.
Dressing for the Rainy Season to Keep Warm and Dry
You also might notice the fancy outfits my friend was wearing. After my REI jacket failed me at Lake Crescent, we decided to just go all out with the rain gear. We threw any sense of style to the wind and indulged in see through full body Coleman rain suits. Actually, that was our only option if we wanted to be comfortable and dry.
The nearest REI was an hour and a half from our campground – and the Hoh Rainforest was another hour and a half in the other direction. We didn’t see any other outfitters along the way, so we made a stop at the Forks Ace Hardware assuming they would have something that would fit our needs. Luckily, our hunch was right (side note- Forks is the very tiny town that inspired the scene for the Twilight books and there are some very amusing tourist attractions along the way).
The Magical Hall of Mosses
Once we suited up, we were pumped for a comfortable hike in the pouring rain. The drive into the main entrance of the Hoh Rainforest is absolutely breathtaking. There are tall trees dripping in moss and just so much green! We parked and hopped on the Hall of Mosses trail which was short and easy but stunning nonetheless.
There were so many shades of green, so many little plants growing on top of other plants. Everywhere we turned we just kept saying “Wow!”. We also hiked along the Hoh River Trail for a bit. The Hoh River trail goes for 17 miles, so we weren’t able to do the whole thing, but it was still a very enchanting trail.
After a while it was time to get home to Migo (no dogs allowed in the rainforest unfortunately). However, our camera gear was dry and we stayed very comfortable in our funny looking rain suits. All in all, it was a GREAT day!
