The weekend of Heather and Casey’s wedding, it rained like crazy. Josh and I had camped out in South Carolina for the entire week and it had been absolutely beautiful. But the morning of the wedding, we woke up to thunder and lightening. That’s just the South for ya. The weather here does what it wants. Thankfully, the thunderstorms rolled out, but the rain clouds drizzled on and off throughout the day. Heather and Casey were such great sports about it though. After getting ready in the hotel, Heather and her bridesmaids met up with Casey and his groomsmen in downtown Charleston for their first look and wedding party portraits. Josh and I had scouted some spots the day before that highlighted Charleston’s colorful and historic buildings. The location turned out to be awesome- even in rain. Personally, we’ve always thought that rain is incredibly romantic. Charleston’s many alleyways provided Heather and Casey some shelter from the downpours- while giving us some pretty epic photo ops. No matter what mother nature has planned for your wedding day, the best thing to do is just embrace it. :) After finishing up in downtown Charleston and heading to their venue the Creek Club at I’on – we got a really lucky break. The rain cleared just long enough for Heather and Casey to follow through with an outdoor ceremony. The ceremony took place in front of a beautiful oak tree covered in swinging Spanish moss. I am just so happy that their wedding planner Heather at Confetti of Charleston helped to make this gorgeous outdoor ceremony possible. Making last minute calls on rainy days are never easy- but this was SO incredibly worth it! After that, Heather and Casey got the party started! They did an epic choreographed dance and completely enjoyed themselves all night long. Heather had been a bridesmaid in one of our previous weddings – and our couple Kirsten and Zach were there with their families. These just announced they have a little one on the way. Its so fun keeping up with our couples over the years! Many epic dance moves and throwback hits later, it was time to send Heather and Casey off. What a great night it was, and what an epic way to start a marriage. Congrats to you both! Thank you so much for inviting us to South Carolina to celebrate in this beautiful day ~ Shelley + Josh Hartman, South Carolina + Destination Wedding Photographers
