Behind the Scenes: Celtic Complexion Vancouver Shoot

Earlier this year, I was invited to Vancouver to photograph the new makeup line for my friend and previous bride Jennifer from Celtic Complexion. Celtic Complexion is a luxury organic skincare and cosmetics company based out of Raleigh. Their products are wholesome and nourish your skin. As someone who uses Celtic Complexion products, I can say that they make your skin feel wonderful (and they smell heavenly)!

When launching her latest ad campaign, Jennifer wanted to reach her audience in a new and unique way by styling the shoot based off of the popular show Outlander. To put it very simply, Outlander is like a the woman’s version of Game of Thrones. It empowers women and portrays the female lead as a person of strong character. This particularly spoke to Jennifer who owns Celtic Complexion. Celtic women were also strong and powerful. Even back in those times, they were allowed to serve in government, fight in battle, choose their partners, and divorce.  The two stories seem to meld beautifully.

Jen wanted to feature real women wearing her makeup. Our models were a variety of ages, shapes, and sizes.  Our model Hannah was a participant in Ireland’s Rose of Tralee last year.  Stephanie is the beautiful face behind Vancouver based beauty blog Shes So Eco . And of course, the beautiful Mrs. Celtic Complexion herself modeled in front of the camera.  Jen and our stylist Michelle Addison put everyone in corsets and flowy skirts, channelling the vibe from Outlander. We started out photographing in downtown Vancouver overlooking the cityscapes, then switched up the look and ventured into the beautiful forest. Everything out there is just covered in green moss and ferns. It made for such a lovely backdrop and I am just so thankful that I was able to be a part of this shoot.
