Laura + Oakley | Brahma Ridge Asheville Wedding
Where do I even begin describing this beautiful laid back mountain wedding? Well for starters we could talk about this adorable couple. Laura and Oakley are super outdoorsy. They love rock climbing and hiking. As a matter of fact, they love the outdoors so much that they slept in a tent the night before their wedding! How cool is that??? Their venue, Brahma Ridge, fit their adventurous personalities perfectly. These two were wed outside on a beautiful hilltop overlooking a green valley. Brahma Ridge is located just outside of Asheville, which is about three and a half hours from Raleigh. Laura wore a dress by her favorite designer Claire Pettibone and a head dress she made herself out of babies breath. It was the perfect blend of sexy and natural. She looked so stunning! Oakley of course looked handsome all his own as well. :) The wedding party was serenaded to the ceremony by a bluegrass band. The sky threatened to rain, but not a single raindrop fell. Laura and Oakley shared personalized vows in front of their closest family and friends. They also added a very personal touch to their ceremony by planting an oak tree to symbolize their new beginning and personal growth. A good friend served as their officiant and the sweet german shepherd Beta was their ring bearer. After sharing their first kiss as husband and wife, Oakley surprised us all by taking his first selfie (ever!) with his new bride at the alter. These two are just too much fun!
While guests mingled at the cocktail hour, drinking Oakley’s home brewed beer and enjoying more music from the bluegrass band, we snuck off with the newlyweds to get some beautiful couples portraits. While we walked around, we came across a barn on the property where a friendly horse came out to say hello. We got some great shots of these two in front of the barn and in the beautiful field across the street. Laura and Oakley are so sweet and I think we all can agree that they make an absolutely gorgeous couple.
After a little while, Laura and Oakley walked back to the reception with their doggie Beta to get the party started. Instead of the usual plated dinners, they hired out food trucks from Asheville where guests could order meals of their choice. We tried a taste from both trucks- the Lowdown and the Gypsy Queen- and I have to say, it was delicious! After a while, the blue grass band was replaced by a pop band. Laura and Oakley got right out on the dance floor with their guests. It was an awesome party! We had such a great time photographing their special day. We wish you all the best Laura and Oakley!!! ~Josh and Shelley, Asheville Wedding Photographers
